KATY SHAND - TEXTILES

Katy Shand's fabrics and garments are patch-worked collages of stitch and colour informed by the eclectic nature of surreal and dream imagery. Seemingly unrelated objects and landscapes, in textiles, become delicate, black-worked hand embroidery amongst bold shapes and pattern. Through their hand crafted and often labour intensive nature and their utilising of old and found materials her clothes react against the disposable and mass-produced.
